Anti-government protests kill two in Iran
Tue Feb 15, 2011 1:59PM

Anti-government protests killed one in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on February 14, 2011.
In the Iranian capital Tehran, anti-government groups, including members of the anti-Iran terrorist group Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), have staged riots, killing two people.

The rioters opened fire on bystanders on Monday, leaving several other people injured as well, Fars news agency reported.

Iranian Deputy Police Chief Brigadier-General Ahmad Reza Radan told reporters on Tuesday that nine security forces were among the injured.

He went on to say that several people were also arrested in the Monday riots.

This came as small groups of supporters of defeated presidential candidates Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi gathered in parts of the Iranian capital.

The opposition had asked for permission to hold a public rally "in support of the people in Tunisia and Egypt” but the Iranian government refused to give permission and declared all such rallies illegal.

The Iranian government said that no more demos were needed as the Iranian people already expressed their solidarity with the Egyptians and Tunisians on February 11 on the sidelines of rallies marking the 32nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Meanwhile, counter-demonstrations were held to denounce the move by the opposition to disrupt public order, and condemn the riots by the supporters of the defeated candidates.

This is while the US government has once again voiced support for anti-government moves in Iran.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that Washington stands with Iranian opposition supporters.

"Let me, clearly and directly, support the aspirations of the people who are in the streets in Iran today," Clinton told reporters after meeting with the Republican speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner.

"We think that there needs to be a commitment to open up the political system in Iran, to hear the voices of the opposition and civil society," she added.

Iran has repeatedly condemned Western countries, in particular the US and Britain, for supporting post-vote riots that erupted following the June 2009 presidential election, which resulted in the victory of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The popularity of US is already declining in the world, in Muslim & Non-Muslim belt too....due to its wrong political & economic strategies and have a long habit of POKING NOSES IN OTHER COUNTRIES INTERNAL AFFAIRS be it Iran or Saudi Arabia or India. We call USA as a "VILLAIN" in mask. Third class developed country in this modern world is USA and most hated Govt. is US Govt.

Small groups of CIA-MI6 paid demonstrators after all that campaigning by the Ashkenazi-operated spy site "Facebook" as well as twitter...if that is all they can muster up it sounds like their plan to overthrow another government in Iran failed before it was even executed.

I just watched Anderson Copper CNN interview with some girl named Sara who allegedly called from Iran. In it, the girl claimed to be Jaleh's classmate. WoW!! I did not know now a dys iranian girls in their 20s who are students at Iranian university-obviously born and grown up in Iran- would speak English with American accent. The show was badly staged and more to lauagh at than a piece jornalistic piece.

Riots or protests? In Egypt we could tell because we could see. Who is keeping us from seeing what's happening in Tehran? Could it be those who have something to hide?Motive? Shame? No. Embarassment? No. Opportunity to keep lying? You decide.

@ MuslimThere is a difference between protest and riot. The former is welcome, the later is not. In the US where I live you burn trash bin in the middle of the road during protest you'll be charged with terrorism and destruction of propery and go to jail for long, long time. Maybe 20 years. If you're muslim, you get sent to guantanamo.

Clinton claims to support the Egypt Revolution, fact the US made muttering support sounds after the case. For US to claim they're supporting Democracy in Iran is laughable; they just want to distract from Egypt and damage Iran - sadly there are always those with false conscience.

The US is desperate. The US media cycles are focusing their news coverage on a "New Middle East" but only critique Iran. This is propaganda to confuse the American public. It's clear to me the New Middle East is centered around Arab anger toward their governments' complicity with US/Zionist policies. The US government is privately aware of the situation and privately supports Arab dictatorships repressing their own people.

Most people know that media in a democractic society exhibits a shameful attempt to control masses through marginalized topics catered to predisposed political opinions. The problem is this isn't limited to the western hemisphere, albeit it's the most prelevent here. My blessings go out to everyone in Iran - may your actions maintain civility.

Having US and Israel backing the demonstrations in Iran is more nail in their coffin.Iran is corrupt and people blame government for not doing anything about it. and that is an internal problem. Which if I may add exist all around the world.USA and other Western countries should stay out of countries internal affairs.Everyone knows about the corruption but not doing anything and just blaming someone else for it. IT WILL NOT FIX ITSELF.

The pictures here and videos posted on Youtube have a little of our Riots caused by our homeborn leftwing mob of socialistic criminals, this could be any larger German city on the May 1st. Legal protest is nonviolent and this doesn't meet this standard at all. This "Protetest" is more comparable in their actions with the counter-reaction by Pro-Mubarak forces in Egypt against the peaceful protesters that ousted him from Egypt like some Shah once...

The enemies of Islamic republic see no other way but to divide Iranians and have they dirty work done this way. The Iranian government should be afraid. The Iranian people should take the lesson of Tunisia and Egypt - without your support, at some point, the government will have to fall. Go out in the streets! The world is watching already, it will be harder for the government to hide the truth, and finally, the sacrifice of Iranians in 2009 might bear fruit. GO OUTSIDE AND BE HEARD! They have spies all over the world who can contact inside agitators, traitors and collaborators. During Iranian revolution, Canadian embassy helped US spies hide in its embassy and gave them fake Canadian passports to smuggle them out of Iran. They could be in any foreign embassy. British ambassador was instigating problems; now is out. Iranian borders are not closed; people can visit and move in and out.
